All citizens of the country, including overseas Pakistanis, will be eligible to apply for acquiring land in the DHA City project on the Super Highway. This was decided at a DHA Executive Board meeting on Thursday chaired by its President, Corps Commander Lt General Shahid Iqbal.

The project is spread over approximately 12,000 acres, and is being developed by the Defence Housing Authority (DHA). The executive board was informed that the upcoming DHA City project is being planned in accordance with modern town planning concepts and will have a network of wide roads, adequate green and open areas developed in the backdrop of a semi-hilly terrain.

The DHA City director told the board members that the process of joint surveys and demarcation of acquired land has been completed. A terrain map has also been finalised and master planning of the area will follow soon.

The corps commander asked the DHA management to adopt a resident-responsive policy in all its undertakings and to follow the philosophy of serving residents by providing them with the best possible facilities at all times and at all costs. He asked the management to bring a qualitative improvement in the DHA garbage management system by dealing with the problem in a holistic and comprehensive manner. He directed the housing authority to make efforts for the revival of a stalled garbage management scheme which envisaged the establishment of a landfill transfer site in the DHA for speedy transfer and disposal of garbage.

The Corps Commander asked the DHA to make arrangements for the payment of bills and surcharges by the Defence residents through e-banking to facilitate them in clearing their dues.

The Executive Board also approved new office timings for the DHA Main Office which will function from 9 am to 5 pm on all working days except Fridays. The first and third Saturdays of the month will be holidays.
