FUNDAMENTAL changes in the system of investigation of Punjab Police have been brought about within the ambit of Police Order 2002.
New system of investigation was implemented during a meeting presided over by former Inspector General of Police Punjab Shaukat Javed. The SHO will directly be answerable to the SDPO and DPO pertaining to administrative and investigative affairs of respective police stations. It was decided that in the new system of investigation, staff would not perform any other duty except investigation. New system of investigation will be directly supervised by the acting Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Salah-ud-din Niazi in Punjab.
Special investigation teams have been constituted at district level and they would be responsible for the investigation of heinous crimes in the districts.
