ISLAMABAD (April 24 2009): Dialogue between the top management of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIAC) and Pakistan Air Lines Pilots Association (Palpa) officials have succeeded and pilots have called off their strike and returned to their normal duties.

In the meeting, the two sides agreed to resolve the problems of pilots and restore the activities of the national flag carrier, which were on halt for some days as a result of the strike. The two sides reached an agreement at a meeting held in the Ministry of Defence on Thursday. The meeting was attended by senior PIAC management and office-bearers of Palpa, said a statement of the Defence Ministry.

The Palpa officials apprised the PIAC management about their problems and stressed the need for immediate resolution of their problems. During the talks, the PIAC gave assurances to Palpa and asked them to resume their duties. The issues were discussed at length and as a result of these discussions, both sides came to a mutual agreement. The PIA flights will now revert to the normal schedule and both sides will deliberate and conclude a working agreement within the stipulated timeframe.
