LAHORE: City police conducted its third encounter in six days, killing an alleged robber on Wednesday.

The Gujjarpura police were involved in the first encounter on April 18, while the second one was on April 20 in the Sanda Police precincts and the third was in the Iqbal Town Police precincts, claiming a total of five lives. The police officials involved in all three encounters claimed they were attacked prior to firing any bullets, however, no policeman was shot during any encounter.

According to Iqbal Town Police, two unidentified robbers looted Rs 5,000 and one mobile phone from Khalid Habib at on the Multan Road at 2pm and fled towards Iqbal Town. The robbers were on a Honda 125 motorcycle and, when pulled over by the Muhafiz Squad, started firing at the policemen. The Iqbal Town Police station house officer, with his team, hurried to where the robbers and Muhafiz Squad were firing at each other. When they heard gunshots, they started firing at the robbers and managed to kill one while the other escaped. According to police, a motorcycle, three mobile phones, Rs 5,000, two pistols and 51 rounds were recovered from the deceased’s body. The SHO said the police had conducted a thorough search for the escaped robber.
