Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan on Saturday said the government will increase the number of girls colleges in the neglected sectors of the capital to equip the girls with modern education.
He was addressing at the ceremony held for upgrading Federal Government Girls Model School, G-7/2, to Benazir Bhutto F.G. Intermediate College for Women.
The sectors like G, H and I in Capital have lack of modern educational facilities and the students residing there have low access to quality education, he said while emphasizing the need to establish more girls colleges on the pattern of other colleges functioning in different areas of Islamabad. The F.G. Girls Model School G-7/2 has been upgraded to the level of intermediate college so that the girls studying there can continue their studies till intermediate, he said. “It was my long cherished desire to have girls college in this sector so that the girls residing in this locality can get chance to enlighten their lives with knowledge”, Babar Awan remarked. The minister also announced that the government would establish first medical college in the premises of Islamabad soon.
The project will be started this year to provide better education to the students of medical, he informed.
Educationists, teachers and students have a great role in the economic development of the country and their role cannot be ignored, he said.
