UPS not getting enough power to get recharged

LAHORE: Uninterrupted power supply (UPS) units are no longer useful against power shutdowns, as their batteries do not get recharged due to increased load shedding. Talking to Daily Times, some citizens said that UPS units had extremely low efficiency and consumed up to five times the energy they provided. They said that the unscheduled load shedding had increased their miseries, as the UPS did not get recharged. Zaigham Raza, a resident of Shadman, said that the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) had started unannounced load shedding and his UPS could not get recharged. LESCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Akram Arian told Daily Times that LESCO normally did not carry out unscheduled load shedding, and that power was cut off only if there was a problem. staff report
