The Defence Housing Authority will establish 10 check posts on main roads of the Defence area by the end of next month to monitor the traffic.

The check posts would be equipped with close circuit TV cameras and computers connected with the networks of ACLC, CPLC, and National Database and Registration Authority. The DHA will be spending Rs0.5 million on a monthly basis to maintain the system.

A delegation of the Association of Defence Residents (ADR) was informed on Wednesday that in order to maintain security and law and order in the area, joint patrolling by the DHA Vigilance branch and police had already started.

The DHA Administrator, Brig Khalid Tirmizi, informed the delegation that a major breakthrough had been made towards resolving the impasse in undertaking the requisite repairs of DHA Cogeneration Desalination Plant to make it operational. The desalination plant is non-operational for want of necessary repairs for the last five months.

He said that finally the stakeholders of the Cogen Plant had agreed to contribute their share for purchase and repair of damaged parts of the plant. He said that the agreement was likely to be signed over the next few weeks and the plant would accordingly become operational in approximately six to eight weeks.
