The Islamabad High Court here Tuesday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to speed up its efforts to rid the residents of pollen allergy threat by removing paper mulberry trees, which were believed to be the main cause.

The single bench of Justice Amjad Iqbal Qureshi issued the direction on a writ filed by Sardar Alam.

The bench disposed of the plea with a direction to the concerned authority to make every possible effort for making the lives of capital’s residents secure.

It also observed that the removal of mulberry trees should be stepped up as suggested by the concerned authority.

The bench also directed that a compliance report be submitted by last week of April. The petitioner argued that CDA has not taken serious measures to reduce the pollen related problem, which was affecting a major chunk of the city’s population every year.
