LAHORE - The number of bogus files of plots in Johar Town housing scheme detected during the last few months have surged to 258, stroking apprehensions of more detections of such forged files in the same and other housing schemes falling under the jurisdiction of the LDA.
The LDA detected 127 fake files of the plots in M A Johar Town recently and announced to discard them forthwith. Some months back, LDA also noticed 131 fake files in the same scheme. Now the strength of bogus files of such plots has reached 258.
The LDA has decided to retrieve all such plots detected as bogus and forged. The authority concerned has also stopped all proceedings regarding exemption, allocation, possession, issuance of NOCs, transfer of plots, sanctioning of building plan, completion certificate and permission to mortgage of the files of plots declared bogus.
Johar Town is the housing scheme of the LDA where first time the highest number of forged files of plots has been unearthed creating more doubts about the status of other housing schemes in the controlled area of authority concerned.
Following surfacing of the said scam, chances of bogus files in other LDA schemes falling in Gulberg I, II and III, Garden Town, Muslim Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Samnabad, Sabzazar, Gujjar Pura, Taj Pura, Mohlanwal, Gulshan-i-Ravi and other localities have mounted up.
Sources privy to the development confided that the Lahore Development Authority had sealed all relevant records of its 11 housing schemes following detection of bogus files at the time of administrative activism in LDA headed by then DG Irfan Ali.
