KARACHI: The Swiss Business Council (SBC) has started to conduct business from its office established in Karachi after operating for nearly a year from the Swiss Consulate.
A statement issued on Saturday said that during its first year of operation it has made a significant progress in developing business-to-business relationship between Pakistan and Switzerland and most significantly improved the perception of Pakistan globally and in Europe in particular. It said that the Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC), headquartered at Zurich, and Swiss Business Council of Pakistan (SBC) had also signed an agreement of cooperation.
The statement further pointed out that the SACC is a very strong Swiss business chamber and has a membership of around 5,000 which includes leading business organisations of Switzerland and Asian countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, etc. SACC in its last two global publications has projected Pakistan as a ‘Land of Opportunities’.
The SACC and the SBC also played a significant role during the visit of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and his ministers to Davos early this year.
SBC and SACC would continue to play a significant role to build-up the perception of Pakistan and enhance business to business contacts between the two countries, the statement added.
