The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is mulling over to affiliate the Capital Hospital with any private medical college or setting up its own institute to provide citizens the medical education at their doorstep.

The matter came under discussion when Secretary for Cabinet Division Zafar Mehmood Friday visited the Capital Hospital who directed the CDA management to ensure state of the art facilities in the hospital, adding that necessary measures should be taken to upgrade the hospital in line with the modern technology.

Secretary Cabinet Division asked the hospital administration to explore the possibilities either to affiliate the hospital with any private medical college or for setting up its own medical college and further measures should be taken to establish it as a teaching hospital.

He said the provision of this facility would benefit from the expertise of the senior medical professionals at their doorstep and ordered the concerned authorities to ensure availability of medical treatment and medicines to the residents.

CDA Chairman Tariq Mahmood Khan said the authority is already working on the plan for up-gradation of Capital Hospital. Emergency services will be improved and professionally skilled experts would be inducted in the medical team of the Hospital, he added.

Earlier, the Executive Director of the Hospital, Dr. Hamid Zeb Khan briefed the cabinet secretary that the hospital, which was established 27 years ago in the shape of a dispensary and over the period of time, it has been developed as third major hospital of this city.
