RAWALPINDI: Satellite Scanning Traffic Signals will be installed in the city soon, said Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Raja Riffat Mukhtar on Thursday. Talking to journalists at the City Traffic Police headquarters, he said tenders had been issued and system was being imported from Australia. He said various traffic management projects were underway and traffic police, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and Rawalpindi Cantonment Board were working jointly for implementation of the traffic management plan. He said the plan would be implemented in three phases, as six fish bellies will be made at different places to ensure smooth flow of traffic. He said installation of Satellite Scanning Signals at different junctions of the city would be carried on in the month of May. The CTO said three fish bellies would be made from Naz Cinema Murree Road up to Faizabad. Two junctions at Chandni Chowk and Rawal Road will be closed and a fish belly will be set up in front of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital for ensuring traffic flow, he added. He said Sixth Road, Rahmanabad and Double Road chowks would be abolished and two fish bellies will be set up to ensure flow of traffic at these places. The CTO said after the induction of traffic wardens a new era of traffic culture free of corruption had emerged in the city. He said the public had complete confidence in the performance of traffic wardens. app
