COSTRUCTION of Shalimar interchange and underpass, at a cost of more than two billion rupees, would be completed by September this year.
The director general of the Lahore Development Authority said this while talking to journalists during inspection of the work on the project here on Wednesday. The one kilometer long flyover, comprising of four lanes and connecting the Shalimar Link Road to Cantt would be constructed under the project for speedy flow of some 35,000 plying across the canal daily, he informed.
The underpass, comprising three lanes on each side, was also being constructed along both sides of the canal for the benefit of more than 47,000 vehicles per day, he added.
The LDA DG said that proprietors, whose properties had been acquired for carrying out the project, had been suitably compensated for their land and structures.
They were now demolishing their buildings for facilitating quick implementation of the project, he said.
The DG said that shifting of utility services like water supply, sewerage, gas and electricity was being carried out for ensuring uninterrupted provision of the basic amenities to the locals during execution of the project.
