KARACHI: The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has given people of the city, in particular, while to Pakistan in general, a historical Signal Free Corridor-III project that would not only be capable to ensure signal free traffic movement till next 50 years but it would also enhance the productivity of economic growth of the country. City Nazim Mustafa Kamal stated this while addressing a huge gathering on the occasion of inauguration of Signal Free Corridor-III project on Thursday. He said Karachi is a port city and almost 70 percent of Pakistan's total revenue is generated in this city so the importance of the city as the backbone of country's economy is infallible. There were around 8,000 families living in 1,385 homes and they have voluntarily allowed to demolish their homes. There are some players that have moved the court and have rendered the land reserved for the rehabilitation of the Signal Free Corridor-III project but whether we are in power or not, these affectees would be rehabilitated at all cost because losing home is an act that is unparallel to any other sacrifice. We shall not tolerate any impediment in this regard, vowed Kamal. Signal Free Corridor-III project has been completed up to 40 percent within 20 days and would be fully operational within 3 months. It is a mega project worth Rs 2.25 billion. irfan aligi
