RAWALPINDI: District Coordination Officer (DCO), Rawalpindi, Imdadullh Bosal on Tuesday directed Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Rawalpindi Environmental Improvement Project (REIP) and Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) to complete work on ongoing development schemes in the city by March 10.

The DCO issued the deadline during a visit to the city’s various areas. He voiced anger at snail-paced development work undertaken by the RDA, the REIP and the RTMA.

RDA Director General Makeen Shahbaz, EDO (Municipal Services) Imtiaz Ahmed Malik, REIP Project Director Saleem Raza, WASA MD Islamul Haq, Rawal Town TMO Irfan Saleem Butt and relevant senior officials accompanied the DCO during the visit.

DCO Bosal asked the Rawal Town TMO to ensure early removal of building material from roadsides. He said criminal cases should be registered against law violators in this respect.

The DCO later went to Circular Road and examined ongoing work on the road’s rehabilitation after the laying of waterlines by the REIP. He set the March 10 deadline for completion of work and sought a compliance report in this respect from the REIP.

Bosal also visited Banni Chowk where work on connecting branch waterlines to main trunk line is underway. The WASA has laid the pipelines. He directed completion of work and repair of the dug-up road within a week.

The DCO expressed anger at uncovered manholes in the city, especially at Banni Chowk, and ordered early placement of covers on them. He also directed the authorities to rehabilitate roads beside Holy Family Hospital within 10 days. The roads were dug up for the laying of waterlines.

He also set a 10-day deadline for correction of the alignment of the newly-built road near Holy Family Hospital within 10 days. He warned the officials concerned of strict action in case of non-compliance of the order.

The DCO also issued directions for completion of the main Bagh Sardaran Road by February 28. He sought a report about dilapidated condition of Asghar Mall Road, Asghar Mall Chowk and Chhoti Saidpur Road within a week.
