THE LDA continued crackdown against land mafia as its Estate Management Directorate retrieved a total of 23 plots worth millions of rupees, situated in different blocks of Johar Town and Township on Tuesday.

The Lahore Development Authority staff retrieved 16 plots, each measuring five marlas in Block-C of Johar Town Phase-II.

Illegal boundary walls had been constructed on plot Nos. 367 to 387 for grabbing these precious pieces of land. The Lahore Development Authority staff demolished the walls for recovering the plots.

In another operation, the LDA staff retrieved four more plots, each measuring one kanal, bearing Nos. 39 B-Block, 659 B-Block, 524 E-Block and 525 E-Block. The illegal boundary walls constructed on the plots were razed for retrieval of these plots.

Meanwhile, staff of the Estate Management Directorate, Quaid-e-Azam Town, retrieved three commercial plots situated near the Civic Centre, Township, after an operation against the shanties illegally set up there. The squatters had been repeatedly requested by the Lahore Development Authority to vacate the plots, but of no avail. The LDA staff also carried out operation to clear up more than 300 shanties set up on the plots. The operation was completed smoothly and reportedly no untoward incident happened. The drive against the shanties and other illegal constructions in Mustafa Town is also going on and will be completed within six day.
