ISLAMABAD: Swedish fire experts have submitted with Capital Development Authority (CDA) draft of Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) for establishment of Integrated Emergency Command and Control Centre (IECCC) at CDA Fire Department.

A CDA official told Daily Times that the Swedish team had drafted SOP on a request of the CDA. The request was put up to the three-member team of Swedish Search and Rescue Agency (SSRA) through National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), he said.

He said the CDA would implement the SOP after its approval by NDMA and CDA. “The authority has planned establishment of IECCC in the wake of earthquake of October 8, 2005. Due to negligence of CDA bosses, no solid progress has so far been made in this regard,” he said.

He said CDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Khan directed CDA Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) to speed up work on the plan following Marriott Hotel bomb blast.

He said IECCC would be manned by officials from the CDA, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), Islamabad police, 111 Brigade, Civil Defence, Water and Power Development Authority (WPDA), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL), hospitals and other related department.
