LAHORE: Lahore was declared the country’s most sensitive city on Sunday on the first anniversary of Operation Silence in the Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa in Islamabad.

Intelligence officials said, “There are intelligence reports that terrorists could try to sabotage Slaw and order in Lahore this week.

In Lahore intelligence agencies and the police have started a campaign against anti-state elements. Late on Friday the law-enforcement agencies conducted a campaign in Muridke, which concluded on Saturday morning. The police claimed to have arrested three men along with a heavy cache of explosives from a warehouse on their information.

Last week, another team claimed to have arrested two men. The police said they had seized three high-range remote controlled devices from Baba Jamil Bokhari graveyard. The police said the law-enforcement agencies had succeeded in foiling terrorists plan to disrupt law and order. The police said with the help of the seized explosives terrorists could have destroyed a large part of the city.

The police said activists of banned militant organisations had been monitored regarding their would-be involvement in any terrorist activity. The police said plainclothesmen had been deputed at city’s sensitive places – especially at foreign installations.

The police said cops had also been deployed at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Railway Station and entry and exit points of the city. The police said cops had been directed to keep a vigilant eye on suspects. Personnel, who were able to understand Arabic, Pashto and Persian, have been deployed across the city.

The police said five activists of Lashkar-e-Islam, who had been arrested from Township, had informed them about the presence of more terrorists in the city.
