Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has said the present leadership of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has undertaken a record number of development projects in the city in the shortest possible time in order to facilitate the masses.
He was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the five-kilometre-long bridge over the Malir River and approach roads from Shah Faisal Colony Wednesday evening.
The governor said that the inauguration of the bridge (the foundation of which had been laid by the Governor himself in 2005), is one such massive development project carried out and completed by the present CGDK leadership that would greatly benefit the inhabitants of Karachi, especially those living and doing business in the localities of SITE, Korangi, Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony, and adjoining areas.
The governor said the bridge he had inaugurated shortened the distance involved by 28 kilometres and now people of Korangi Town, Landhi Town and Shah Faisal Colony could reach the city centres within a few minutes.
This is the longest bridge ever built in country and would serve not only people of the surrounding areas but the industries in Korangi and Landhi would also feel the convenience as the bridge has now connected two extreme points of the city where extensive network of industries existed.
City Nazim Mustafa Kamal said that the construction of Malir River Bridge has changed the perspective of “people across the bridge” and now people living in posh areas such as Clifton and DHA who never thought of making a long-distance drive to old city areas such as Liaquatabad and new Karachi were frequently visiting these areas.
Kamal inaugurates road in Gulistan-e-Jauhar: City Nazim Mustafa Kamal has said that equal attention has been paid to all city areas including those falling under the administrative jurisdiction of cantonment boards in carrying out development work. He said that the development work done by the city government in Gulistan-e-Jauhar was a manifestation of this fact.
Speaking to area people after inaugurating a four-kilometer long road from Safari More (Samama Shopping Centre) to Pehlwan Goth in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Tuesday night, he said that the city government has reconstructed the area by spending a huge amount of Rs2.8 billion.
