Pakistan remained unbeaten in the first qualifying round of the 2010 Men’s World Volleyball Championship when they thrashed minnows Maldives 3-0 at the Liaquat Gymnasium on Friday. A clean sweep against Macau, Bangladesh and Maldives helped hosts Pakistan enter the second round of the championship.

Consistent in their attack line and emphatic with their spiking an acrobatic Pakistani squad triumphed in the first and opening fixture of the tournament 25-11, 25-11, 25-12 in front of a sizeable audience present at the Liaquat Gymnasium. -APP

Despite the fact that Bangladesh opened the score card of the first set 0-1, Pakistan came from behind after the oncourt short rally equaling and shot out the remaining two sets. -APP

Pakistan appeared to be unmatchable in all areas of the game, receiving, smashing, good oncourt communication and some hard hitting smashes. They won all three sets 25-13, 25-12 and 25-16. -APP

Both Pakistan and Bangladesh qualified for the second round of the World Volleyball Championship 2010.
