JAMAAT-e-Islami ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has termed Israeli bombing on Gaza and massacre of Palestinians a conscience-shaker for the entire Ummah, lamenting that the delay in calling the meetings of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) and the Arab League was a betrayal to the blood of Palestinian Muslims.

Palestinian nation, led by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), was single-handedly fighting for the liberation of Muslims’ Qibla-e-Awwal from the Zionist occupation, and history would never forgive their sacrifices for the Palestinian cause, he said in a statement on Monday.

Qazi said Israel was using its entire air force and war machinery not just to destroy a small town of 144km area to protect a handful of Jewish settlers near Gaza border, but the actual aim of the open war against unarmed Palestinians was the preparations of new elections in Israel. He said Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak approved Gaza invasion last month and its announcement was made by Foreign Minister Tzippi Livni in Cairo in the presence of the Egyptian president.

Qazi said former Israeli army chief Ehud Barak was out to achieve political aims from the war and the Labour Party was spilling blood of Palestinians for the sake electoral victory. He said Zionists even violated Jewish religious injunction, banning bloodletting on Saturdays, adding that the Israeli government had ignored their religion in their madness to conquer Palestine through military might.

Condemning the Israeli air strikes on hospitals, educational institutions, mosques and roads, the JI ameer said Zionists wanted to destroy the infrastructure of Gaza to force the Palestinians to vacate the area.

He paid tributes to the courage and determination of Gaza citizens and said that despite the cold shoulder given to them by the Muslim rulers, the large-scale demonstrations in the Muslim world proved that all Muslims stood by them at this hour of trial.

Qazi said the closure of Rafah by the Egyptian government, following the Israeli attacks, had aggravated the situation inside Gaza as there was an acute shortage of lifesaving drugs, food, milk and other essential supplies, whereas the seriously wounded could not treated in hospitals. He said the US and Israel had always considered Hamas as the biggest obstacle in their agenda and that’s why they trampled the Palestinians’ mandate for Hamas by in the last elections. He said Israel had been keeping the Palestinian assembly speaker and other elected representatives of Hamas arrested for the last two years.

The JI leader said anti-Muslim and extremist attitude of the US and the western countries had been endangering the world peace for the last six decades and Muslim rulers were equally responsible in this regard because of their apathy and the US slavery. He said it was the prime responsibility of Muslim Ummah to help Palestinians who had been fighting the war for liberating the Qibla-e-Awwal.

Qazi appealed to the Muslim world, specially the Islamic movements, to observe Friday (Jan 2) as a protest day against the Israeli aggression against unarmed Palestinians and press their rulers to support Palestinians.
