CDA Plans to Build Affordable Hostels in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: The CDA has planned to construct a girls’ and a boys’ hostel to facilitate youth visiting the capital from remote areas of Pakistan for a brief time. Hostels in Islamabad.

The decision was taken in a meeting presided by the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Noorul Amin Mengal. The chiefs of the engineering and planning wings of the CDA were also present in the meeting. The Chairman instructed the planning and engineering wings to visit and find suitable sites for the project.

An official of the civic body stated, “The basic purpose of the hostels, one each for males and females, is to facilitate the young people who are coming from the far-flung areas of the country for different purposes.”

According to a member engineering wing, Syed Munawar Shah, the construction plan for the hostels has been approved, and the construction work will be started shortly. He stated, “Once we get details of the approved sites, we will move towards PC-I of the project and tendering.”

As per a CDA official, the idea of the youth hostels transpired after meeting a young boy from a distant area of Punjab with the Chairman of CDA. The boy faced difficulties finding a suitable place to stay for his exams as the private hostels were too expensive. Therefore, the Chairman CDA took this initiative to provide subsidized accommodation to young people visiting Islamabad.
