A STATE-of-the-art forensic laboratory will be set up with two billion rupees in order to run the investigation system on scientific lines, enabling the Punjab Police to face modern challenges.

This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab Shaukat Javed while giving a briefing to a delegation headed by Los Angles County Police chief, Sheriff Leroy D Baca here on Friday. Additional IG Israr Ahmed, Additional IG Investigation Salahuddin Niazi, Additional IG Patrolling Zahid Mehmood, Additional IG R&D Arshad Saeed, DIG Headquarters Rai Altaf Hussain, DIG Operations Rafiq Hassan, AIG Admn and Security Capt ® Syed Ahmed Mobin, AIG Logistic Jawad Ahmed Dogar, SPCR Fawad Ahmed Qureshi were also present on the occasion.

The IGP said a comprehensive policy had been evolved to impart professional training to police employees. He said modern ways of information technology had been adopted to put the investigation system on modern lines, adding that a data centre had been setup at the central police office to keep a record of criminals involved in heinous crimes. He appreciated the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in bringing reforms in the Police Department.

Sheriff Leroy D Baca lauded the measures regarding reforms in the Police Department and assured that the US would cooperate with the Punjab police to enhance professional capability of the force.
