The Lahore Development Authority pulled down as many as 42 illegal structures in and around Main Market, Gulberg, on Friday.

During a joint operation, personnel of the Estate Management Directorate, Town Planning Wing of the Lahore Development Authority and Water and Sanitation Agency extended parts of many buildings were removed.

The Lahore Development Authority also retrieved 18 kanals on Main Ferozpur Road and removed scores of

structures set up without illegally. The LDA staff did not take action against disturb hawkers anywhere during the operation. They rather asked them to remove goods voluntarily.

Earlier, the LDA had eliminated 34 constructions put up in violation of

rules on Guru Mangat Road besides razing two illegally constructed shops on Gulberg Drain in Gulberg.

The authority has urged residents to voluntarily remove encroachments without further delay, failing they will have to bear demolition charges. Encroachers will also be dealt with under sections 33, 34 and 40 of the LDA Act 1975, it said.
