The deputy director general of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and senior most officer in BPS-19, Syed Mustafain Kazmi, has been promoted in BPS-20 and made director general (Civic Management) in the authority.

The meeting of the Departmental Promotion Board (DPB), chaired by secretary, Cabinet Division, on Saturday, took up the cases of promotion of four senior officers of the CDA from BPS-19 to BPS-20, including Syed Mustafain Kazmi, deputy director general (Municipal Administration), S M Bukhari, director general (Administration), Jameelur Rehman, director general (Procurement & Contracts) and Dr Suleman Sheikh, director general (Environment) and approved.

After being promoted by the DPB in BS-20, Syed Mustafain Kazmi has been re-designated as the director-general (Civic Management). He will be heading the directorates of Sanitation, Landfill and Compost Projects, Disaster Management, Rescue and Fire Services in the authority.

Syed Mustafain Kazmi, joined the CDA in 1984, and had held positions of director Municipal Administration, director Enforcement, director Public Relations, Senior director Sanitation, director Sports and Culture and Landfill and Compost projects. Major achievements of Mr Kazmi include the development of Saidpur into the ‘Saidpur Tourist Village’ on the lines of a tourist villages conserved in different part of the world. As he developed the ‘Multi Purpose Mini Sports Complex’ in Sector F-6 made up with synthetic turf and also organized the first ever ‘Margalla Festival’ in 2004 in which a large number of sporting and cultural events were arranged. Now it has become a regular feature of city’s sports and cultural activities. He also developed 30 new sports fields in the city. He also developed first eve food street Melody Food Park in Sector G-6 Markaz.

As director Sanitation Syed Mustafain Kazmi organised the sanitation department on modern lines and shifted and upgraded and modernized the CDA’s ‘Weekly Bazars’ in sectors G-6 and H-9 (previously G-9 Bazaar) as well as launched the cleanliness operations on the occasion of Eidul Azha and Eidul Fitr and other National days.

Syed Mustafain Kazmi did his Masters in Mass Communication from the Karachi University and also did his Bachelor of Law from Islamia Law College, Karachi and also practiced law in Karachi.

Other officers promoted in BPS-20 were already working as director generals in the authority. They include S M Bukhari, as Director-General (Administration), Jameelur Rehman, as director general (Procurement & Contracts) and Dr Suleman Sheikh, as director general (Environment).
