Rawalpindi

All the government and private hospitals including clinics in Rawalpindi City are packed with patients having symptoms like cholera and dysentery.

People of the city, especially children, are the victims of cholera and doctors are busy in saving their lives, said Dr Sobia Imran of District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) while talking to ‘The News’ here Monday.

She advised the people to avoid open market foods, burgers, ‘kababs’, ‘pakoras’, ‘samosas’ etc during these days. ‘Rabri milk’ is much dangerous and people should use boiled water. Vegetables, simple rice and tea should be used to avoid complications, she added.

Dr Usman Manzoor of Holy Family Hospital said that sugar patients could not fully recover from cholera easily. Their sugar level increases to 600 in which medicines stop functioning against infection in the body. “I could not survive had I not reach RGH Hospital for treatment,” Zahoor Ahmed, a cholera patient told ‘The News.’ “I appreciate RGH doctors who treated my cholera-hit children,” Nusrat Ara, a mother said.
