New Islamabad international airport highway – PM gives deadline of Nov 22

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has instructed concerned authorities to complete the six-lane highway connecting the new Islamabad international airport with the twin cities by November 22, according to a news source. Once this highway is complete, the airport will open its operations for domestic and international flights.

Reportedly, the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan is ready to start flight operations for the facility on a 10-day notice. A total of 12 international standard boarding bridges have already been installed for the passengers at the airport. In addition, conveyor belts and a handling system to transport luggage to the passenger lounge have also been installed.

The airport’s name is yet to be finalised by PM Abbasi – one of the options being considered is to name it after Shaheed-e-Milat Khan Liaqat Ali Khan.
