CHIEF Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has ordered the completion of Thokar Niaz Beg Flyover up to January 15 next year and Walton Road till 15th of this month.

He issued these directions while addressing a meeting held to review the pace of implementation of various development projects. Task Force Chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hassan, LDA DG, C and W secretary and NESPAK MD were also present.

Mian Shahbaz Sharif said provision of best travelling facilities to the people was one of his top priorities. He said development projects had been started throughout the province for this purpose.

He said the pace of work on Multan Road should be further accelerated. He said timely and quality completion of the development projects should be ensured and third party audit of these projects must be carried out.

The chief minister also ordered immediate transfer of the TEPA chief engineer for not getting third party audit of Walton Road project despite his clear instructions.

He said delay in completion of the development projects would not be tolerated and these would be completed in a transparent manner.

He said the project of Thokar Niaz Beg Flyover was of great importance due to rush of traffic as it was situated at a conjunction of five roads. He said this project had already been delayed, therefore, it should be completed till January 15 next year at all cost.

He also directed the firm carrying out the construction of the Thokar Niaz Beg project to ensure timely and quality completion of this project.

He said the government would provide all the funds needed for early completion of this project. He said he had already issued clear instructions to the departments engaged in construction activities that maximum work should be carried out at night so that people did not face inconvenience.

While reviewing the construction work on Walton Road from Ferozepur Road to Khayaban-e-Iqbal, the CM directed the officials that this road should be completed up to November 15 instead of November 30 as undisciplined traffic on it caused traffic jams on other roads linked with it.

He said to the Task Force chairman and the LDA DG that his vision about construction of projects was clear that the third party audit of all these projects must be carried out and strict implementation of his orders be ensured otherwise action would be taken against the person responsible.

He directed the NESPAK MD to submit a report to him for widening the road from Thokar Niaz Beg to Moghuplura and making it of three-lane due to increasing rush of traffic on it. He said that this fact must be kept in view that the trees should not be cut down during widening of this road.
