ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Kamran Lashari has constituted a two-member committee to probe why the construction firm has not resumed development work in Sector D-12, sources said.

They said the firm was not complying with the authority’s directive to restart the work. The sources said the committee, comprising CDA Member Engineering Moeenuddin Kakakhel and Member Planning Raja Nosherwan, would submit its report tomorrow (Monday).

They said that development work in the sector was started on May 16, 2005 and its completion was due on November 15, 2006. They said relaxation was granted to the firm for accomplishing the plan by June 30, 2007, but to no avail.

The sources said the firm again could not make the best of one-year extension in deadline and the CDA failed in allotting possession letters to the allottees by June 30, 2008 as per its promise.

They said only 65 percent of the work had been completed, as it had been halted during the last four months. They said the project’s cost was increased on the demand of the firm, but now it was requesting for higher rates. They said the firm was neither restarting the work nor willing to quit. They said, quoting Lashari, that more delay would not be tolerated in this connection. online
