A Metro Bus Project official declared on Wednesday that the main road of the city would turn into a dual carriageway due to metro project, offering fast corridor to those entering the city from Vehari Chowk and Bahawalpur bypass.
Chief Engineer of the project Sabir Khan Saddozai said that Metro Bus was the largest development project in the Multan’s history which would not only offer luxury travelling facility to the citizens but also improve the infrastructure. He said that the citizens used to avoid Hafiz Jamal road due to its poor condition but now a two way new road would be constructed under metro flyover which would connect BCG Chowk to city area.
He hoped that the Metro Bus project would change transport culture of Multan and prove catalyst for economic activity in the region.
He said that the project would introduce Multan to the world as it was symbol of a big city.
Citing Lahore project, he said that the number of daily commuters rose to 150,000 from 96,000 and it was estimated that over 97,000 people would travel daily on Multan Metro.
He disclosed that the construction of first Metro station had begun at Northern by-pass Allahwala Chowk and escalators as well as lifts would be installed at this station. He said that those wanting to cross the road would also go to the station and take a separate bay to go on the other side. He declared that a unique cooling system would be installed at Multan metro.
