ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) has rejected the Capital Development Authority (CDA)’s proposal of developing a housing society on the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC)’s land in Chak Shahzad.

The scientists associated with the academy have appealed to Prime Minister Mr Nawaz Sharif to stop the authorities concerned from converting 1,395 acres of land into a housing and commercial area.

Reportedly, the CDA has also submitted a proposal to the prime minister to seek approval for the development of a housing society on the land in question.
Pakistan Agricultural Research Council Founder Dr Amir Mohammad told reporters that agriculture was the only industry that had the potential to cater to the issues of the country's economy.

He also added that NARC should be developed further instead of using its land for the development of a housing society.
