ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday inspected the entire route of the metro bus service, through an aerial view, and expressed his satisfaction over the project catering to the needs of the twin cities’ residents.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the metro bus service has provided speedy, quality and economical travelling facilities to the masses. He said that 0.15 million persons are daily benefiting from the metro bus service. He stated that inauguration of the project has given a strong reply to those who had criticized welfare programmes of the government. He said that poor people have right over resources and Pakistan Muslim League-N government is giving them this right through welfare programmes.
The CM said that the PLM-N government would continue to set up welfare projects like the metro bus service. He said that ‘service to the people’ is the motto of the PML-N and billions of rupees are being spent on raising the living standard of people and provision of basic facilities to them. The metro bus service is a splendid example of utilisation of national resources on the masses, he maintained.
Addressing on the occasion, he said that the metro bus service has revolutionised the transport system.
Through the metro bus service, transport system has been set up on modern lines, he stated.
He said that work on the metro bus project has also been started in Multan. The metro bus service is an important step towards minimising the gulf between rich and poor, added minister.
