The Provincial Development Working Party Punjab approved fifteen development schemes of various infrastructure and economic sectors with an estimated cost of Rs 23.054 billion including 2x55 MW (Gross) Coal Fired Power Plant at M-3 Industrial City, Faisalabad costing Rs 15.461 billion.
These schemes were approved in the 40th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of current fiscal year 2014-15. Provincial Secretary P&D Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry, Members of the Planning & Development Board, Provincial Secretary concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant Provincial Departments also attended the meeting.
According to P&DD spokesman, the other approved development schemes included:
1. Development of infrastructure in Industrial Estates of Small Industries Estates, Sialkot, Gujranwala-I, Gujranwala-II, Bahawalpur at the cost of Rs 226.636 million,
2. Feasibility Study of a Pilot Project for Inland Waterways Transport (IWT) in Punjab for the Pilot reaches between Attock-Daudkhel & Daudkhel-Taunsa (PC-II) at the cost of Rs 53.000 million,
3. Widening / Improvement of Road from Kadhala to Malki via Aach to Ghulam Chowk to Kharana Tehsil Kharian, length=16.27 km, Gujrat at the cost of Rs 277.478 million,
4. Upgrading of Mechanical System for Sewerage and Drainage Services in Gujranwala (Revised) at the cost of Rs 1165.883 million,
5. Implementation of Master Plan Phase-III, Lahore General Hospital, Lahore (Revised) at the cost of Rs 730.601 million,
6. Construction of New Block at Press Law Building in Punjab Civil Secretariat, Lahore at the cost of Rs 485.694 million,
7. Lahore Ring Road (Package-3C) Construction of Underpass at Karol Ghatti on Ring Road Lahore at the cost of Rs 583.049 million,
8. Lahore Ring Road (Package-12A) Construction of Underpass at Bhaini Road on Ring Road Lahore (Revised) at the cost of Rs 540.897 million,
9. Widening / Improvement of Narowal-Shakargarh Road km No 0/0 to 40/24 (length=40.24 km) in District Narowal (3rd Revised) at the cost of Rs 856.988 million,
10. Rehabilitation / Widening Improvement of road from Mandi Kamoke to Mandi Siranwali via Nandipur Soonper Mandi Wahando Thapnala Dera Noor Alam Danser
11. Bala Gilgithi Total length=43.00 km in District Gujranwala at the cost of Rs 414.657 million,
12. Rehabilitation / Improvement / Widening of Dual Carriageway between Khushab to Jauharabad Road (Art-2) km No 214.60 to km 222.25 length (7.65) km in district Khushab at the cost of Rs 460.304 million,
13. Widening/Improvement of Road from Rangpur Chowk Munda Daira Din Pannah to Taunsa More Up to Pull Qamber length=72.50 km in district Muzaffargarh (Revised) at the cost of Rs 679.590 million,
14. Widening / Improvement of Palace Road from Pull Dari Sangi to UAE Palace length=12.00 km, R Y Khan at the cost of Rs 846.338 million and
15. Construction of girls' hostel at King Edward Medical University Lahore at the cost of Rs 272.695 million.
