The Ministry of Housing and Works is currently planning to construct 500,000 homes in different parts of the country for low-income strata.

The purpose is to construct homes for people who do not have proper shelters. The initiative is part of the Prime Minister Housing Scheme under which lower class will be provided with houses on easy instalments.

The sites for construction of houses had been identified in districts of Charsadda, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Lahore, Jehlum, Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta and Gwadar. Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Akram Durrani directed the concerned officials to start the process of acquiring land in the given districts so that work could be started without any delay.

Furthermore, he said that project should be completed within the tenure of present government.
