Islamabad - Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) directorate of municipal administration has earned Rs 485 million revenue during the fiscal year 2014 which is almost double as compared to the previous year’s corresponding period.

It is expected that CDA would achieve a target of Rs 600 million at the end of the current financial year.
Talking to APP, Director General of DMA Hamza Shafqaat said on Wednesday that the authority has generated this revenue through different modes like Melody Food Park, Munal Restaurant, and auctions of parking of F-9 Park, Rawal Lake and Shakir Parian.

He said on the directions of Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal, Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has introduced new reforms to increase its revenue generation through different mode of advertisements.

The chairman CDA has directed DMA to ensure implementation of reforms in revenue generation in a transparent manner so that revenue could be increased.

He said that DMA has computerised its administration record including birth and death certificates to facilitate the residents of capital.

Besides, DMA has carried out operation against the illegal kiosks and other encroachments and special anti-encroachment teams have demolished illegally constructed kiosks and other structures in different sectors of the city.

Hamza Shafqaat said the Authority continues with its operation against illegal Fiber Optic networks and excavation for networking purpose in the federal capital.
He said that CDA would not allow its land for any kind of illegal networking of cables, adding that operation against the illegal excavation and networking of cables would carry on.

The operation is in continuation to the actions against illegal activities and to bring the fiber optics under the formal system of tax net to increase revenue generation for the Authority, he added.

The DG said that during a recent operation, especially constituted Task Force of DMA carried out an operation and unearthed almost five (05) kilometres long illegally laid network from Rawal Chowk to Banni Gala.
