Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will start construction work on major roads in Sector I-12. This project would cost Rs.358 million.

The tender notice for construction of major roads in Sector I-12 has already been floated in the national press and contract for construction work would be awarded soon after opening of tender on January 15, 2015.
A high-level meeting was held here at CDA Headquarters, which was presided by the CDA Chairman, Maroof Afzal. On this occasion, Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Engineering, Shahid Sohail, director general works and officers of concerned formations of the authority were also present.
Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal said that CDA is paying special heed to the stalled sectors, which have been either completely neglected in the past or development work could not be completed. Due to these reasons, the allottees of these sectors have been facing great difficulties, he added. He said that the present regime has included the development of stalled sectors in its priority to meet the challenge of shortage of residential units in the capital and in this regard sufficient funds have been allocated in the current fiscal year for the development stalled sectors.
He said that plan for construction of major roads in Sector I-12 has been finalized and Rs.358.00 million has been allocated. Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal directed the Engineering Wing to immediately start construction work on major roads in Sector I-12 after opening of tender. He further directed to complete construction work on the major roads at the earliest so that the other development work on the project could be completed so that the allottees could be handed over the possession of their plots for construction of houses.
Besides the development of stalled sectors, new sectors would also be opened, to overcome the shortage of housing units in Islamabad, he added.
Administration and Estate Member, Amer Ali Ahmed informed the Chairman CDA that CDA is taking effective measures for resolving the genuine problems of the affectees of Islamabad so that acquisition process of land could be made possible. He further informed the chairman CDA that the authority is ensuring the implementation policy in mutual understanding with the affectees for opening new sectors in Islamabad.
