Provincial Minister for Zakat and Ushr Malik Nadeem Kamran stated during a meeting that the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Sahiwal will be upgraded with Rs1.5 billion in the next four years.

The meeting was held to review the ongoing mega projects in Sahiwal district. The Sahiwal Medical College, established by the Punjab government in 2010, needed a teaching hospital. However, it was not upgraded due to lack of development funds. Punjab government had allocated funds now and the development work would begin in January.

As per new plan, an emergency ward will be established and the Rehmatul Alameen Block, cardiology, paediatric, urology and radiology departments upgraded along with establishment of medical, surgical and neurology wards. Moreover, the minister said that the Qutab Shahana Bridge over the Ravi would be completed in January that will reduce 40 kilometre distance between Faisalabad and Sahiwal.

Other development work includes the broadening of 40 kilometre road between Sahiwal and Chichawatni along with the construction of Noor Shah road.
