Rawalpindi - Commissioner Rawalpindi Division and Director General (DG) Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Capt (Retd) Zahid Saeed has passed special instructions to expedite Murree Road repair work and complete it as early as possible.
Sources told The Nation on Thursday that in an important meeting, the commissioner Rawalpindi asked the Chief Engineer RDA and relevant contractors to expedite work on road repair in order to provide relief to the general public. “Road repair work may take one or two extra weeks after January 31, the deadline for launching Metro Bus Service, however the commissioner Rawalpindi has asked to simultaneously complete road repair work,” sources added.
When contacted, RDA Spokesman Hafiz Muhammad Irfan confirmed the development that commissioner Rawalpindi has passed special instructions to expedite road repair work on Murree Road which is already under progress.
He said that commissioner Rawalpindi has tasked relevant officers to ensure completion of work on the project as per targeted time. To another question, he said that to make the route beautiful empty spaces will be filled with planters, pavers, sitting areas and food kiosks.
He said after completion, the Metro Bus route will be one of the most beautiful mass transit routes of the world.
He said that design of landscaping and planters will be different from station to station in order to make the corridor more beautiful. He claimed that Metro Bus Project will be completed as per given deadline of January 31, 2014. “DG RDA Capt (Retd) Zahid Saeed and his team 24 hours monitoring the project and it is being ensured that work will be completed as per targeted time,” he added.
