Islamabad: CDA has started paying compensation in lieu of built up properties (BUP) to the affectees of Kuri Model Village and affectees have started handing over the possession of their land to CDA.
Member National Assembly, Doctor Tariq Fazal Chaudhary handed over checques to the affectees of Kurri Model Village in a ceremony held on Friday evening at Kurri Village. On this occasion deputy director general estate and senior officers of CDA’s Estate Wing were also present.
Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary said that the role of CDA in the development of Islamabad is commendable. He said that the issues of the affectees would be resolved through mutual understanding and CDA has been playing a positive role in this regard. He further said that we should join hands with CDA to make Islamabad more beautiful and a model city. He said that Kurri Model Village project will not only add to the grace of the city but will also help lift the living standard of the local people.
It is pertinent to mention here that as per award of 1968, CDA had acquired 2900 acres of land but the affectees had not handed-over the possession of land to CDA and the matter of Kuri village remained in the court. However, due to the hectic efforts of present regime of CDA and disposal of litigation in courts, work on Model Village Kuri has been initiated and started payments in lieu of those claims.
Affectees present on this occasion thanked the government and CDA administration for taking solid steps to resolve their longstanding issues and assured CDA for their full cooperation.
Earlier CDA chief visited different places to review the progress of construction work being carried out on Citizen Facilitation Center project at Jasmine Road, G-7/2. Engineering Member Shahid Sohail, Administration and Estate Member Amer Ali Ahmed, senior officers of the Engineering Wing and Project Director of the Citizen Facilitation Centre were also present on this occasion.
CDA Chairman was apprised that the citizen facilitation centre is being constructed on an area of 2500 sq yards, and it will serve the general public as all kind of services related to CDA / IESCO / SNGPL / PTCL/ NADRA/ passport etc would be available under a single roof. CDA chairman was informed that excavation work on the project has been completed and work on construction of retaining wall is in progress. He was further apprised that the citizen facilitation centre would be a state-of-the-art building where fascinating hard landscaping will also be carried out.
Chairman CDA directed the project director to complete this project in stipulated time without compromising on quality of work. He further directed to submit daily progress report about the project.
CDA Chairman said that CDA would also establish three similar citizen facilitation centres in different sectors of Islamabad so that the residents could be facilitated at their doorstep instead of visiting One Window Operation Directorate and other offices of CDA and other service provider departments. He further said that these facilitation centers will not only help in facilitating the residents for early disposal of their issues but will also ensure transparency.
