The Government of Punjab has approved eight development schemes in various development sectors at an estimated cost of Rs4.6billion.

These schemes were approved in the 26th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party of fiscal year 2014 to 2015 held at P&D Complex Lahore, said a P&D spokesman.

P&D Provincial Secretary Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary, members of the P&D Board, provincial secretaries concerned and senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting.

According to the spokesman, the approved development schemes include, “Acquisition of land for establishment of two 55 megawatts imported coal power projects near Sunder Industrial Estate Lahore at the cost of Rs345million, establishment of project management unit (PMU) and appointment of consultant for a cancer hospital in Lahore (PC-II) at the cost of Rs117million, enhancing the capacity of Charrar Drain to cater to rain water of Ring Road (Package A and B) Lahore (Revised) at the cost of Rs506million, up-gradation of Botanical Garden Jallo, Lahore at the cost of Rs262million, construction of road from Narowal to Lahore via Baddomalhi-Narang-Kala Khatai Shahdara in District Narowal/Sheikhupura at the cost of Rs922million, re-habilitation of road from Lower Topa (Danna) to Gulehra Gali to Patriata (Revised), Rawalpindi at the cost of Rs273million, construction of road and bridge between District Mianwali and Jand (District Attock) (Revised) at the cost of Rs2 billion and development of surface parking at Murree (PC-II) at the cost of Rs70million.”
