City District Government Lahore (CDGL) along with heavy contingent of police carried out an operation against squatters and retrieved around 70-kanal land in Journalist Housing Society here Monday.
The operation was started on special directives of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif. Officials of Wahga Town, CDGL, police, female police, LDA, Wasa and other departments concerned were present. The operation was launched early morning and continued till evening. Heavy machinery was used to demolish illegally built constructions, a basement and several shops.
Residents of the colony, members of Lahore Press Club, and a vast community of journalists appreciated the government for launching this operation and urged the government to continue this drive besides taking measures to stop Qabza groups from reoccupying the land or any new land in the colony. Office-bearers and members of governing body of Lahore Press Club also paid special visit to the colony to witness the operation cleanup and thanked the CM for taking interest in this long standing issue.
