A decision has been taken to close down public transport service on Murree Road after completion of Metro Bus Project in Rawalpindi city.

The recommendations for enhancing and changing the routes of public transport plying on Murree Road after completion of Metro Bus Project have been sent to Rawalpindi commissioner for approval.

This has been laid down in the recommendations that no transport of any kind will be allowed to run on Murree Road on completion of metro bus project. The concerned departments have finalised their recommendations in this regard and communicated to Rawalpindi commissioner.

This decision has been taken so that the commuters travel only by metro bus and this project could be made a success and if public transport would ply on Murree Road then the metro bus project could meet failure.

The district administration Rawalpindi has decided to change the routes of public transport plying on routes No 1, 3 and 6.

Route No 1 which now starts from Saddar and ends at secretariat will start from Dhamial camp Quaid-e- Azam Colony. Route No 6 will commence from Misrial Road and route No 3 will start from Raja Bazaar.
