Islamabad : Yet again the development work on the most prestigious housing project of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the ‘Park Enclave’, resumed after a long pause as the men and machinery started trudging the site on Wednesday.

The project, which was launched back in July 2011 was the first ‘gated community housing project’ launched by the CDA and was projected as the ‘Jewel of Islamabad’.

In the year 2012 the CDA tried to start the development work but that was turned into an issue. The CDA, this time has completed the home work before gunning the machines and mobilising the men. The Authority has completed the concrete boundary wall around the whole project and the legal hurdles, if there were any, have been effectively removed this time.

There was a hurdle in way of the launch of development work in Park Enclave, and that was the development and allotment of plots in the Model Village Kuri. The affectees of the ‘Kuri Model Village’ had gone in the court and had got a ‘Stay Order’ against the development work of ‘Park Enclave’. That ‘Stay Order’ was vacated on Wednesday.

CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal, while announcing the launch of development work on ‘Park Enclave’ also announced that the development work of ‘Model Village Kuri’ and the allotment of plots process will also be started within one week’s time.

The CDA was supposed to develop the project and hand over the possession of the plots to the allottees within one year’s time. However, that kept on delaying on one count or the other. Now the CDA has launched the development work and the contractor, who has been awarded the work, is unlikely to face any problems that may stop the wheels of development this time.

The work on construction of internal roads started Wednesday. The development contract has been awarded for a total cost of Rs1.24 billion and it will be completed in one year’s time.

The CDA chairman said that Rs500 million have been allocated for the development of this unique housing scheme during the current financial year, adding that no further delay would be tolerated in the development of Park Enclave.

“The allottees of this housing project would be handed over the possession soon after the completion of development activities. In the first phase, concrete security fence around the Park Enclave has already been completed to secure the acquired land,” Maroof Afzal said.

The chairman directed the concerned formations of the Authority to take all measures for timely completion of development work in Park Enclave and utilize the best available professional skills in completing this housing project.

Maroof Afzal directed the Project Director of Park Enclave to ensure standard and quality of work and supervise the development activities personally.
