Park Enclave project Islamabad has recently hit another legal snag due to litigation by local residents and their refusal to vacate the land.

Resultantly, the scheduled auction of the remaining plots has also been delayed due to this hurdle. After issuing the work order in July, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) directed the contractor to mobilise the machinery and equipment before August 14. However, the situation got worse when few people interrupted and halted the work activity by approaching the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

“The next hearing of the petition filed by the residents of Kuri village with the IHC is on October 15. The petitioners have raised objections against payments for their properties,” said CDA spokesman. He further said that the litigation did not just delay the development work in Park Enclave but also affected other key projects including development of Kuri Model Village and the establishment of five universities in that area.

Kuri and Rehara area that had been acquired by the CDA in the late 1960s is 23,200 kanals. Phase-I of Park Enclave spreads over 900 kanals, mostly in Kuri area. Delay in executing work in Park Enclave has also shattered the hopes of the CDA to auction around 150 plots in the current month.

Launched in 2011, the Park Enclave housing project was scheduled to be completed by December 2013. “The tentative date for the completion of the project will also be extended,” said a CDA official.
