To counter repeated threats of bombing in commercial areas of the federal capital, the authorities have decided to install security cameras in the markets, sources said.

Phase-wise installation of security cameras has been started in Super Market and Jinnah Supper Market.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmad confirming the report said that security arrangements in and around Jinnah Super Market and Super Market were reviewed in a meeting with trader associations.

It was decided that security in both of the markets should be further beefed up in order to avoid any untoward incident. He urged the trader associations of both Jinnah and Supper Markets to install the security cameras on entry and exit points. It was agreed that these cameras will be installed by the associations of both markets and quotation in this regard has been called. The traders associations assured the installation of said cameras and barriers on urgent basis.

It was also discussed that the presently employed security guards does not adequately cover the security requirements. The deputy commissioner urged the traders to hire security guards from reputed security companies.

It was also decided and agreed that the security companies will be asked to provide the guards Walkie-talkie sets for communication purposes. The traders associations were also asked to procure metal detectors for search and surveillance purpose. The members of association agreed to procure the metal detectors.
