The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to buy “dispute-free” land of six villages for its housing scheme LDA City, in order to avoid litigation in future.

According to senior officials, “the acquired land will extend the proposed area from 45,000 to 61,000 kanals.” LDA City is claimed to be the biggest housing project of the government being developed on Ferozepur Road linking Defence Road. A stretch of the under-construction Lahore Ring Road’s southern loop is also passing through the scheme to connect Multan Road and Motorway (M2).

In a recent meeting, presided over by Vice-Chairman Khwaja Ahmad Hassan, LDA’s governing authority has approved to acquire the entire land of villages including Kahana Kacha, Thay Panju, Sidhar, Halloki, Rakh Jhedu and Toor Warraich. The decision was taken after the LDA came to know that in various villages, the land was owned by several owners.

Such type of ownership may cause litigation with the government as well as those, who would buy plots in future, so it was decided to buy the whole land that must be litigation-free.
