Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is gearing up to resume work on two mega development projects a couple of weeks after Eidul Fitr holidays. The development activity in stalled residential scheme namely Park Enclave and under-construction Margalla Avenue had come to a halt due to various reasons, which could also result in escalation of cost of these two projects.

CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal had already directed the Engineering Wing to mobilise machinery for commencement of development work in Park Enclave after Eid as the construction firm had been selected after completing all formalities.

The civic body, in its budget for the ongoing fiscal year, had allocated Rs500 million for development of the Park Enclave. The CDA chairman had directed the concerned formations of the CDA to start development work at the Park Enclave without further delay so that people who were allotted plots could be given possession.

The boundary wall around the housing project has been completed, which has secured the acquired land and the contract for development work of Park Enclave has been awarded after completing all codal formalities of the tendering process. The contractor concerned would mobilise the machinery to start development work at the Park Enclave soon after Eidul Fitr.

The development work at the Park Enclave would cost approximately Rs1.26 billion, which includes construction of major roads, service roads, streets, footpaths, drainage system, water supply lines with complete water supply system, sewerage system, construction of bridges and culverts and electrification work. The development work also includes construction of main entry gate and security checkposts and landscaping of the housing project. The housing project would be completed within a period of one year.

The CDA would also resume work on the remaining portion of Margalla Avenue, which would serve the upcoming sectors of C series and Sector D-12.The construction work on the project was suspended due to existence of a graveyard on the right of the avenue. A meeting held before Eidul Fitr discussed two options to avoid the graveyard either to bypass graves towards north or to construct a flyover over the area.
