Shahbaz approves Butterfly House, Greater Iqbal Park
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has granted approval to the projects of setting up of Butterfly House in Jallo and Greater Iqbal Park after the completion of Azadi Chowk Flyover Project.
He gave approval to these projects while presiding over a high level meeting, here on Saturday.
The DG PHA gave a detailed briefing regarding Greater Iqbal Park Project.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that after the completion of Azadi Chowk Flyover Project, Greater Iqbal Park Project was of great importance. He said that Greater Iqbal Park Project would play an important role in highlighting the importance of cultural and historical heritage of Lahore. He said that Greater Iqbal Park Project would be a unique master-piece.
The chief minister said that the original and historical importance of Minar-e-Pakistan, Badshahi Mosque, Lahore Fort and other historical places would be restored. He directed the officials concerned that the prominent features of Mughal architecture should be highlighted in Greater Iqbal Park Project. He said that landscaping of the entire project should be carried out on modern and ancient pattern and services of an international consultant should be acquired for this purpose.
Shahbaz Sharif said that, under Greater Iqbal Park Project, a lake would be developed and there would be an island in the lake besides a bird ivory would also be constructed.
The CM issued orders to plant the colours changing trees for increasing the beauty of Greater Iqbal Park, saying that the project should be completed speedily in a transparent manner so that tourists’ facilities of international standard could be available to the citizens visiting historical places.
Shahbaz Sharif said that first Butterfly House of Pakistan was being constructed in Jallo Park. He also gave approval to the proposed programme of enhancing best facilities in botanical garden in Jallo Park. Provincial Minister for Housing Tanvir Aslam Malik, Assembly Members Mohsin Latif, Ramzan Siddique Bhatti, Vice Chairman LDA Kh. Ahmed Hasaan, Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lahore Division, DG LDA and DG Sports were also present.
