CDA to undo illegal promotions granted by previous govt

ISLAMABAD: Around 300 employees of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), who got promoted using political influence during the last government’s tenure, are likely to be reverted, as their promotions will be annulled.

These promotions took place in almost all CDA wings, using personal or political influence, ignoring merit and without meeting the basic requirements for that grade.

In response to a directive issued by the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC), a special committee has been formulated by Islamabad’s civic body for scrutinising around 300 employees, who got promoted out of turn between 2009 and 2012.

The committee comprises deputy director general finance, director human resource directorate-II and director securities. However, none of them were willing to talk fearing that the outcome of their findings will invite a strong reaction from the employees.

“After scrutiny, promotions of around 300 employees will be cancelled and they will be reverted back to their original scale. But this will also result in strong repercussions from the employees and maybe their unions too,” said a committee member, requesting anonymity.
