CDA allocates 44pc of its budget for development of new sectors

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Maroof Afzal has said that the CDA has allocated 44 per cent of its total budget for development of new sectors as well as to complete the infrastructure development and left over work in stalled sectors to overcome the shortage of housing units in the city.

CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal said this on the eve of his visit to Sector I-12 along with Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed, officers of Engineering Wing and other concerned formations of the Authority.

Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed briefed the chairman about the plan of development work to be started in Sector I-12. CDA chairman directed the Engineering wing to start development work in I-12 immediately and CDA will construct all the roads in this sector with its own available resources.

He said this initially Rs. 200 million has been allocated for development of this sector, however, he added that more funds would be provided, if needed, to ensure complete development of this sector in short span of time.

The CDA chairman said that during the budget of current financial year i.e 2014-15 focus has been given to complete development work in stalled sectors where development work is pending since many years.

Similarly, he said that during the current financial year we have allocated funds not only for mega projects, but funds have also been allocated for repair, maintenance and up-gradation of existing infrastructure.

This time CDA has presented development oriented budget where focus has been made to public welfare projects and schemes. Chairman CDA said that the development of Sector I-12 is in the list of our priority projects and would be completed within shortest possible time.

Administration and Estate Member Amir Ali Ahmed apprised the Chairman CDA, Mr. Maroof Afzal that fencing of the Sector I-12 would be started with the development activities to protect the land from the encroachers. Directions to Enforcement Directorate have also been issued to keep the Sector I-12 free from encroachments and ensure effective monitoring of the land.

He also ensured that special teams of Enforcement Directorate would monitor the land in Sector I-12 on daily basis to discourage the encroachers. Member Administration and Estate said that under a comprehensive plan, teams of land survey in collaboration with Estate Wing have completed the survey of Sector I-12, adding that the sector has been handed over to Engineering Wing for construction of roads.

CDA chairman has directed the Engineering Wing to move the heavy machinery of MPO Directorate for construction of roads in Sector I-12 from the next week so that earth work could be initiated. The concerned formations assured the Chairman CDA that earth work would formally be started during the next week.

He was further informed that in first phase construction work on Service Road (West) would be started in Sector I-12. The CDA chairman directed the concerned formations of the Authority to start construction work on major roads, connecting roads and internal roads after completion of Service Road (West) to meet the residential necessities of the people.

The CDA chairman said that sufficient funds are available for development of the city, he added that Engineering Wing must ensure timely completion of development projects with quality.
